Joe Novenson

Pastor of Senior Adults
Joe came to serve as senior pastor at LMPC in 1996. He received his bachelor’s degree in speech communication from Rider College in 1974 and his Master of Divinity in 1978 from Westminster Theological Seminary, Philadelphia. Prior to coming to LMPC, Joe served at churches in Lexington, South Carolina and Augusta, Georgia. In addition to his role at LMPC, Joe also serves ministries within Chattanooga, around the country, and around the world. Joe and his wife Barb have three children and four grandchildren.

A key formative experience for Joe was learning about the centrality of servanthood to the Christian life from P.T. Chandapilla in Chennai. He also learned God’s goodness in the midst of trial when both his hands were crushed in an industrial accident just two months into his marriage. Influential voices in Joe’s life include Ed Clowney, Harvie Conn, and Cornelius Van Til. His favorite books are The Bruised Reed by Richard Sibbes and The Christian in Complete Armour by William Gurnall. When Joe gets free time, he likes to hike the trails of Lookout Mountain. His favorite part of serving at LMPC is living with and learning from older members about life in Christ. In his current position, Joe focuses on serving older members of our church and community.
