Brian Salter

Lead Pastor

Brian came to LMPC as the director of adult discipleship in 2006, having previously served with Campus Crusade for Christ in East Asia as well as on the University of Georgia campus. He received his bachelor's degree in education from the University of Georgia in 1997 and his Master of Divinity in 2006 from Reformed Theological Seminary, Orlando, and was ordained at LMPC in 2007. Brian and his wife Kendra have four children.

Formative experiences have included meeting Kendra and uniting with her for life, two years of ministry in China, walking by his mother's side during her long battle with Parkinson's, connecting annually with 10 fellow pastors from around the country, and a host of mentoring relationships that God has kindly provided throughout the years.

Influential voices in Brian's life include seminary professors Richard Pratt, Bruce Waltke, John Frame, Steve Brown, and Reggie Kidd; authors Wendell Berry, Tim Keller, Eugene Peterson, C.S. Lewis, and David Brooks; historical figures Theodore Roosevelt, Charles Spurgeon, Jonathan Edwards, and most recently, J.C. Ryle. Brian's favorite books are Hannah Coulter by Wendell Berry, The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas, The Pilgrim’s Progress by John Bunyan, and The Pastor: A Memoir by Eugene Peterson.

Brian’s most recent role was associate pastor of mission and vision, ensuring that LMPC’s mission, vision, and values are integrated throughout in LMPC in a clear, cohesive, and compelling manner. He continues to do this in his current role as lead pastor as he directs and works closely with the LMPC pastors and officers. What Brian loves about LMPC is the rich history of abiding faith and family among "incredible people in such a beautiful place." He also appreciates the unique model of collegiality, team preaching, and deferential brotherhood of the pastoral team. Among other activities, Brian likes to grill and smoke large amounts of meat on the Big Green Egg and watch most sports, particularly ones involving the Georgia Bulldogs and the Atlanta Braves. He also enjoys coaching youth sports for his kids and the hosts of children on Lookout Mountain. Andy Griffith, John Grisham, and board games with the family also are common pleasures.
