We are in need of renewal. Thankfully, the prophet Isaiah provides a way for ongoing renewal in the latter part of his prophecy. He speaks hope to those who are in exile, facing much loss and threat while awaiting the fullness of God’s coming Kingdom.
We, too, are in exile and far from home, feeling more and more like strangers in a foreign land. In many ways and on many fronts, it seems that the Kingdom lies in ruins around us in how people think, how they live, what they say, or what they cherish. How can we experience
renewal in the ruins?
The road to Kingdom renewal is the same for us as it was for God’s people then. The road to renewal is one of relinquishing, repenting, rejoicing, reflecting, and realigning. We will discover the truth of what Nancy Leigh DeMoss once said, “Revival is not just an emotional touch; it’s a complete takeover.”
